Photo reference is a great learning tool. You can learn a lot through studying photographic images -though of course that doesn't mean one must create a carbon copy. If you find that you are getting bored, try changing it up bit by bit, or add something fun to your image (like elf ears for example ).

Practice makes perfect- rather than thinking of it as homework, make it fun!
